Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law is hiring a Food and Agriculture Law Graduate Fellow. The Fellow will work part time with the Pace Food Law Center and the Food and Farm Business Law Clinic while working towards an LLM in Environmental Law

The Pace Food Law Center supports legal services and advocacy, academic scholarship, and student learning. The Center’s legal services and advocacy projects support the transition to a just and sustainable food system by providing direct legal services to small farm and food businesses and related nonprofits through the Food and Farm Business Law Clinic.

The Food and Farm Business Law Clinic provides pro bono transactional legal services to small farm businesses, artisan food manufacturers, craft beverage entrepreneurs, and related nonprofit organizations. Under faculty supervision, law students in the Clinic represent clients in connection with forming and structuring businesses, cooperatives, and nonprofits; drafting and negotiating legal agreements, including leases, operating agreements, and other commercial contracts; advising on regulatory matters, including related to food regulation and land use regulation; and seeking trademark protection, among other areas of practice.

Responsibilities of Fellow:

  • Assist with the Clinic’s legal work
  • Assist with the Clinic’s client intake, referrals to other professionals, and case management system
  • Conduct research on food law and policy matters for the Center
  • Develop and maintain the Center and Clinic websites, social media pages, and other media
  • Assist with conferences, meetings, and publications
  • Work on new program initiatives as they are developed and implemented
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Candidate for the LLM in Environmental Law degree at Elisabeth Haub School of Law
  • Member in good standing of a state Bar, or eligible for admission and able to become a member during the fellowship
  • Strong academic qualifications
  • Excellent professional and communication skills
  • Strong writing ability
  • Excellent organization and administrative skills
  • A demonstrated interest in food law (defined broadly)

Compensation

  • Full-tuition waiver for LLM degree
  • Modest stipend ($25-$30/hour, commensurate with experience)

Start Date (flexible)

This position runs a calendar year, August 2025 to August 2026 (52 weeks). Set weekly hours (17-20hrs) are required throughout the duration of the appointment.
